nakashima inspired (loosely) Table lamps. First project.
I recently moved into a house with a basement that finally allows me to start working on projects and building things and I decided for my first woodworking project to build some lamps. The lamps are loosely based on this lamp by the master George Nakashima http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_details.aspx?intObjectID=4886543 however I made mine larger and without the rounded neck. I also didn’t even think about making the lampshade as that is beyond my skillset. I made them out of 3/4″ pine (It was cheap and I didn’t want to ruin expensive wood if i messed up). I took several photo’s of the building process that I have posted here http://imgur.com/a/KwSxU
Finish is minwax dark walnut stain and minwax satin finish wipe on poly. Hope you enjoy it and please be gentle on me.

Welcome to wood working. Nice job on your first project. Keep it up and keep your imagination open and then go make them lamp shades :)
I like the bookmatching you did down the center. It's a nice touch. You may consider it simple, but the memories you are building are priceless. Any time spent in the workshop is time well spent! Welcome to FWW!
