Outdoor Rocking Chair
I love to add marquetry to my work and decided to up the challenge by designing an outdoor project that incorporated marquetry. The chair is made from white oak and finished with seven coats of Epifanes gloss marine varnish. The top and bottom rails are made from bentwood lamination. Each lamination is about 1/8 inch thick except for the very top layer which is white oak veneer (about 1/42 inch thick.) The marquetry is done in the veneer sheet which is then added to the other laminations in the glue up process. I used Urea Formeldhyde glue for the laminations. This is an excellent glue for both marquetry and for laminations.
