This box was built for a tea ceremony I created for my girlfriend. It is intended for lovers who have busy lives to take a moment out of their hectic schedules to experience and appreciate each other, if only for an instant. The lid of the box contains cloves, cardamom, peppercorns, nutmeg, and cinnamon, the ingredients to make Masala Chai. Each wood that was used to construct this piece represents an ingredient of the chai. Also incorporated into the lid is a mortar and pestle for grinding the spices. Inside the box there are two glasses, a carafe, a strainer, and a container of tea. The legs are bent laminations and are intended to represent the way that the milk in Masala Chai helps suspend the astringent quality of the black tea.
