MAPLE JEWELRY BOX
So I had this piece of maple that had birdseye, flame and spalting. Parts of the board I figured I would have to throw on the burn pile, because it had so much “punk”. Instead I slathered on the wood hardener to see how much I could save. The “punk” section became the lid. This entire box was made from one plank, including the tray and hinges. The “soft” corners came about because of all the grinding I had to do on rotted area’s. Kind of wanted to tie it all together. The od of the box is 14x9x10, and was dictated by the size of the plank. The finish is Howard’s Feed n Wax, rubbed in until the wood stopped absorbing it and then hand buffed.
