Over the last many months I’ve had a few emails “bounce” when sent to Knots members via the boards. Have been curious: is this due to simple forgetfullness (changed email, forgot to update) or are folks worried about privacy issues?
When I first started participating in on-line WWing forums I was pretty paranoid about registering my email, but have found no problems in about 3 years of bummin’ around. Registered with 4 or 5 different forums.
Just curious!

The email account registered to my name can get some of the notifications through, but often filters out private email (often thinking they are SPAM and therefore removes them).
Which is why I usually just give folks the [email protected] address to email me. It doesn't have NEAR the filters on it. I suppose I COULD change my profile address to that, but I don't check it nearly as often.

The reason so many people never get anywhere in life is because when opportunity knocks, they are out in the backyard looking for four-leaf clovers. -- Walter Percy Chrysler
One other reason for bounces that I've run into quite a bit lately with newer PC users. Even if they type the right letters and their email address is current, they don't seem to be aware of the fact that [email protected] and [email protected] are not the same. They assume it works either way. Sometimes it does, but usually one of them will bounce.
If you build it - he will come.
Mine's current, Jamie.
As to e-mail addys, mine must work, I've gotten several e-mails from forum members but haven't had problems with spam.
Good luck persuading the other members to update.
Hi Leon. I'm not really "trying to persuade" -- just curious about why some don't work. I've had zero forum-sourced spam, which is a good thing. Found that the main reason I get spam is that I made my email addy too easy to be "discovered" by whatever program they use to test-mail. I learned that if I ask for an email, say, [email protected] and the site comes back and says "already taken, would you like to be janedoe4 then I should bail and find another name.
