Woodtek vs.Grizzly Full Extension Slides
Anyone have experience with either Woodtek or Grizzly full extension slides? These are for shop drawers and I don’t feel like paying a premium for brand names. With the number of drawers I’ll have I can’t afford Blum or others. I like the Grizzly since they can be ordered in different lengths without having to commit to 10 pairs of a given length.
Are they at least reasonable, holding close to rated capacity, operating smoothly? Or are they junk and would I be better off just going with cabinet doors everywhere? Again…I can’t afford top notch ones with somewhere between 20-30 drawers in my future.

Scott, you might also try posting over at Breaktime. There may be more people there who've used them. Good luck! I wish I had 30 drawers in my future, LOL.

I have just received an order of 7 grizzly drawer slides for drawers in a cabinet under my workbench and router table. Have not installed yet but the product looks well machined runs smoothly. By the way anything I have ordered from Grizzly exceeded my expectations, this includes casters, clamps, hardware, slides, drill press vice and especially my new table saw. I put a lot of research into that and was especially impressed with how solid and beefy each part was.
They are very likely made in the same factory. You can get KV slides for the same price. Acurides are only a little more. If you are looking for the cheapest price check out Ebay. You can get lots (Ia box full) for real cheep. And they too are likely the same quality as the Grizz or Wood tek product.
Pardon my spelling,
Mike

Visit your local cabinet shop supplier. I just bought 100lb 16" full extension slides for approx $4 per set. I had to buy the full box of 15 sets, but that's still a great deal.
Cabinet shops buy from the likes of Hogan Hardwoods http://www.hoganhardwoods.com/
I bought mine from a locally owned competitor, Deano Hardwood.
Call a cabinet shop and ask them where they buy their stuff.
WOW thanks for the advice! Just called them...they are now Brazos something in Austin....Hogans sold them I guess. $4.03 a pair for a box of 15...in 18" 100lb...nice.THANKS!!!Scott
There. Your Fine Woodworking subscription just paid for itself. :)
(Dear FWW, please send the check to...)
Lewis and Company is the primary supplier in Texas and one of the main suppliers in the nation. They have very good prices on all things not wooden. The only issue is that you have to spend $100 to open an account. I don't think that you even have to prove that you are a pro shop. However the big suppliers are not going to be as helpfull as the retail places like Rocklers. All though I don't know for sure that the people at Rocklers are all that helpfull.Pardon my spelling,
Mike
