I ordered a 1 1/2″ diameter thread cutting box and tap kit this week to make a height adjustable stool for my shop. I haven’t made the stool yet, but found it is just fascinating to use in experimentation. I intend to order another kit later in smaller size (3/4″). Besides making the obvious (clamps, etc.) I am wondering if anyone has ideas on what other shop fixtures, toys, etc. can be made using wooden threads. There must be dozens of holding fixtures or other items that require threads; what are they? Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated, as always.

I used a 1-1/2" tap and die to make my first bench vise, a twin screw face vise.
Also, you could make a miter shoot: http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/SkillsAndTechniques/SkillsAndTechniquesPDF.aspx?id=28177.
