I have a question regarding wood storage. I’ve checked several Taunton books about workshop solution, storage, setting up shop,etc.. Is it bad to store wood on edge? I have room for some horizontal wood storage on racks. I am also in the process of building an A-frame style wheeled sheet goods and long board rack. however, I have some wide, 8/4 walnut that I cannot fit on my racks and I am afraid is too heavy anyway. Can I lie the wood lengthwise on edge on my plywood rack or will that encourage warping, cupping, etc? I know some just find a corner and stand it up but I am hoping to make use of the racks to keep wood off the floor.
thanks in advance,

The biggest source of trouble when storing wood is not having air spaces between the boards so that the exposed sides gain or lose moisture faster than the boards buried in the stack which leads to warpage. It is going to be harder to keep stickers between boards stored on edge, but that is the only problem that I see.
