I need to cut some rabbets in 3/4-inch OSB sub-flooring (Advantech) material but I’m worried that doing so with my Freud Super-Dado set will dull the blades due to the resins in the OSB. Does anyone know if cutting OSB dulls blades? I’d rather sacrifice a $30 router bit than a $200 dado set but cutting rabbets on the table saw is much faster than doing so on a router table.
Thanks,
Lyptus

keeping blades sharp
The only real way to keep blades sharp is not to use them, but rather store them in an oxygen-free environment.
My guess is that you'll get more mileage (footage?) by using the dado set, since the wear will be divided among all those teeth, compared to just the two on the typical router bit. Think of the need for resharpening as a sign that work is being accomplished.
Question
Ralph,
But how would inspect and ADMIRE them in an oxygen-free environment?
Frosty
People from my planet don't need oxygen, Frosty. ;-)
You might pitch a dull router bit, but with the dado set you merely send if off to be sharpened and it comes back as good as new. (Forrest has a good sharpening service that will handle all brands.)
Sharp Blades
I would suggest that you use a hand held routher and a guide. Getting a router bit sharpened or a new one is much cheeper than having a dado set sharpened. You didn't say how long the dados are but with a guide and router it is very easy to cut a dado the full lenth of a sheet of ply or OSB.
