I’m having trouble locating ponderosa pine 3″ X 3″ X 4′ for a colonial cradle I’m making. Seems 1″ or a bit more is available but solid 3″ is hard to come by. Anyone have any ideas for a source? I’d rather not glue it up if possible. I’d even go to a different pine as long as they’re similar.
Appreciate your suggestions,
Richard

Wall lumber has 12/4 white pine, if you can use that.

There are many places that stock the wood you're looking for. When all else fails, ask about 'special ordering it. If you're not in a rush, sometimes you can get it with no add-on charge. 3" x 3" x 4' sounds like turning stock to me. Perhaps an out-of-town dealer will UPS it to you. Since we (knot-heads) are scattered all over the world, we generally know wood dealers in our 'home' area. Where are YOU?

SawdustSteve:
Thanks for responding. I looked thru some internet sources but didn't come across any that had ponderosa pine in that dimension. It could be turning stock. in fact, the post I have to make has to be turned. The posts are on feet at either end of the cradle, which hangs between them. I live in north central Florida, near Gainesville. I tried the Wood Source in Ocala but they don't have that size. If you know of a particular source in the area or even on the web - for shipping - I'd appreciate hearing. Thanks again.

Bet you wouldn't have any trouble finding SYP in your part of the country.
