i’ve read with interest the article about mid-level table saws (hybrids) and would like to purchase the editors choice Woodtek – 148-271. i live in the greater los angeles area and am wondering where i might look to purchase one locally, picking it up myself rather than having it shipped.
i’m rather new to all of this….at least as a more serious woodworker. i’d appreciate any advice you all might have in this matter.
thanks,
dbouch

WoodTek is from Woodworker's Supply. I doubt that they have any locations local to you, but their web site is

thanks....i appreciate your help. i've got a lot to learn. i'm lovin' the process.
If you need to call them, it is 1-800-645-9292. They are located at 1108 North Glen Road, Casper, Wyoming 82601. You might find a used one locally. I have used them for other purchases, but have not used any of the Woodtek machines.
thanks tinkerer. i appreciate the feedback. i'm looking forward to participating here. i feel like i have a million questions - okay, maybe 30. i'd like to find a mentor near where i live who's experience i could tap as i try to go deeper into this.
Woodworker's Supply has three locations: Wyoming, New Mexico and North Carolina. Woodtek is their brand of machines and only sold by them as far as I know.
Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans .
Welcome. Where in the LA area are you? I'm way out in Simi Valley.
i'm in west hills....we're practically neighbors. my son and his family live in simi.
Geez - I'm in Newbury Park, so three woodworkers nearby. I thought that was against the law here in the LA area <G>. Too bad there aren't any really good woodworking tool dealers in the area though.

No good tool dealers in L.A.? Have you ever been to Eagle tools in Pasadena (or maybe near Pasadena)? I bought an Agazzani band saw there 3 years ago; the experience was well worth the drive in from the desert. Everyone I dealt with was knowledgeable and courteous-- more like fellow woodworkers than salesmen. I also noticed a pretty good selection of used professional grade woodworking machinery there. Gary
Not familiar with them, though I was born in Pasadena (actually, rural Pasadena - i.e. Altadena). Now they are far enough away with the freeways to be a bit of a pain to go to, though it sounds like they could be worth it. Thanks for the tip.
Bob
The last time that Altadena was "rural" was a loooong time ago. ;-)

Well, I was born a loooong time ago too, so that fits!

Do you have a 'Big Box' near you? I have a RIDGID.. IT IS A WONDER SAW FOR THE PRICE!
OK' so I said it.. I LOVE mine but sure I could do better if I had $2'000 Grand extra!~
