Either you are all expert HTMLers or I’m missing a function. When I post a message there are no options for text color or size changes at all on either IE 5.1 for Mac or Netscape Communicator for Mac (expect for the “HTML in Post” option at the bottom).
Am I simply missing something?

Dunno what browser version is necessary, but I'm using IE 5.5; just above the space where I type this are MS standard symbols for B (bold), I (italics), U (underline), together with selection spaces for paragraph, font, size, and color. You can also select "Source" at the bottom of the message screen and get access to direct html coding.
Are you on Mac? I've got no options like you mention and no "Source" below.
Mark,
What browsers are required here? Are these just Windows functions (a terrible shame if that's the case)?
Best,
Seth
Mark,
No, I'm using Windows 98.
Seth,
I took a little time and looked at the html/javascript for the posting page. From what I'm seeing, the functions for editing the font, size, color, etc are within a set of <div> tags. <div> tags are used to designate a specific area of the page and apply specific styles, etc to it. It could be that the Mac is having problems with something in the <div> tag and is ignoring the whole section. This doesn't explain why you aren't seeing the radio buttons below the message box for viewing WYSIWYG/Source. There is a ton of javascript used on this page to make it function. It's been my experience javascript is not very consistent from browser to browser or between platforms.
I also saw html references to <iframe> which I know are not supported on Netscape browsers (at least prior to v6). SYSOP will probably need to know what version of Mac OS you're running to help troubleshoot. Good luck.

It appears they are using MS Frontpage extensions. I'm using IE 6.0.2600 and have none of the above problems.

I'm running IE 5.0 on Windows 2000 pro and have no problems. I suspect the problem to be with your ability to handle java scripting. Check to see that your browser supports Java in your operating system environment. If not, upgrade to a browser that does.

We'll I've upgraded to both Internet Explorer's latest version and Netscape Navigator 6.2.2 (both for Mac) and no text appearance editing features at all. I'm running OS 9 as well.
Tim, Mark, can SOMEONE (sorry for shouting, no italics here) tell us if this forum supports Macintosh so I can stop trying to make it work? I'd really like to be able to italize and bold.
I'm frankly dissappointed and surprised that Prospero's software would not support Macintosh.
Thanks for the help.
Seth
PS. The spellcheck is still not working but you probably already know that.

Seth, I'm pretty sure its a Java related problem unless these are ActiveX controls. They are using Active Server Pages (asp) but that doesn't mean that there isn't imbeded controls, VB script or Java Script that you might not be able to interpret. You might try http://www.sun.com to see if they have the Java Run Time edition for a Mac. Java is supposed to be operating system independent so if you can run it, it may cure your problem. No promises here, just something I might try.

Seth,
Unfortunately Propsero's software does not offer the WYSIWIG message composition for Macintosh browsers. That means those with Macs will not be able to do the italic and bold like those of with Win-duhs. I'll check and see if there is work around.

Thanks Tim and Steve for the info. Steve, I'm confident that I have Java Run Time as I see it loading for other websites. Sounds like I'm out of luck. I guess I'll have to settle for unemphyized text unless Tim finds a work around as mentioned.

Why did I know it would come to Mac bashing! Tom, if you really want to "go there" I'll have you know that I'm rather evangelical regarding the superiority of the Mac platform, but I'll save the forum the pain of having me post my tyranical litany of Macintosh propaganda.
Wink, wink. . . nudge, nudge, a nudge is as good as a wink to a blind man (Windows user).

Too Funny, you really have a Mac don't you. Just kidding.... I remember, (I think), when the Mac was king of the hill. As far as I know, it probably still is but I make my living off of PC users so as long as they keep breakin, I got a job. Go figure... Mines working for once... humm .. I may be out of a job soon... Oh well, I was looking for one when I found this one.
