Nothing special.. Just made a box for the grandbabies to play with from scraps I had laying around.. All kinds of wood in it.. I used a brass chain? to hold the top.. Little fingers get caught in them fancy stops..
Now all I have to do is attach the key with a chain!
EDIT:: I forgot geeee AGAIN! The Hearts were added.. To hold the screws for the chain stop.. Damn! The wood was to thin for the screws! Maybe next time I think FIRST!

To quote the movie Dumb and Dumber, "I Like it Alot."
Just curious, in the photo of the inside of the box, what is running down the inside of the mitre joint?
I think all the 'white' wood is QS Rayed ASH that held the panels..There is Jatoba, Lacewood, White Ash, and a wood I forget (Orange.. Top borders), and another I forgot (The Base) from Mexico...That wood in the base is like wax! Nothin' will stain or finish it!
As is with wax!

Like it, hope the lid is sufficient to take being jumped on (design criteria for the one I made after some observation of their behaviour, and it has taken a pounding). Also like the hearts for their own sake.
We need to be careful what we do with these offcuts. I was trying to convince the better half that I needed to invest in a wood bank when she identified the scrap bin and said that I already had one.
That lacewood is lovely looking stuff. It used to so plentiful that it was used for mouldings on government furniture. not so these days.
