Hi
I have a 14′ x 35′ garage behind my house w/8′ cieling. A9’x 7′ overhead door on the 14′ end that faces the common driveway and a 3′ hinged door on the other 14′ end which is about 15′ from the back of my house, which is a 100 year old row home(todays terms TOWN HOUSE) I have a seperate panel box( 60 amp), I have a propane heater, wall A/C,phone,radioand cable TV. I spend some time out there because I am out on disability right now from my job as a Union Carpenter .I was hurt on the job.I have a table saw ,band saw, mitre saw,belt/disc sander,30″x72″ work bench, drill press, scroll saw, router table, and lathe, and also a home made 4’x5′ out feed table for the tablesaw.Iuse a shop vac from tool to tool for dust collection.I made a spray booth with a bathroom exhaust fan mounted in a 24″x24″ cardboard tool box. Did some shifting around of the tools a few times to get it so they are not in each others way,it works for me.I have been experimenting with birdhouses lately for therapy to keep busy, I have a back injury, I have been making small things on the scroll saw, and the lathealso. I can work about 1 to 1- 1/2 hours then I have to go lay down, to much pain.I take a rest then go back at it.

Rick,
Going to Grizzly Tools' website and taking time to use their new "Shop Layout" plan can help you see how your layout looks. With all your doors and ideas, seeing it on the screen can help you and others to see your ideas.
Good luck with your healing injury.

I have a 30 by 40 rv parking space next to my garage
so I have a garage wall as one wall on east side
and a propertyline fence on west side
south side a 5 feet high gate covered with wood siding
north side open into backyard
the cover is with plastic sheeting, including some clear sheeting
all power tools are on stands design for easy moving them arounds with a cart
since I use the area for parking my truck and trailer at night and they are loaded
with tools
most wood tools were bought at actions
at the cost or 20 to 30 cents on the dollar or less
in the summer I use a water cooler that blow the cool air right tru the shop
since the main sides are closed
nice hobby since Iam now only working part time
have built about a 50 feet bookcase
a aviary next to a 30 by 8 fish pond
right now we are redoing our own kitchen
we are doing at all our self except building the cabenits
the main thing Iam enjoying it
it sur beat wathing tv all day or getting bored
I work in an 8x12 meter section of an old rice barn! Total the building is around 36 meters long. I have a large bench 2600mmx900mm, with a cabinet base for tools. A contractors saw, sliding chop saw, two jointers, one a combination jointer/planer of professional quality (thus big, heavy, and hard to move). Self-made router table with a horizontal router. Small drill press, and a lot of chisels, planes, and hand saws. (I prefer to do things with hand tools...the smaller jobs at least). My plans for that building, lumber storage, larger t.s. and planer, flat floor, finishing room and the list goes on. The interesting thing about the building is that it's old and thus made the old way with intricate joints and large timbers (btw I live in Japan), it's good for inspiration!
