just throwing out a curiousity of mine, are many other craftsmen familiar with or interested in sumac as a turning wood or otherwise?

In my parts (Massachusetts) we don't usually let it grow big enough to be of any use. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen a sumac tree any bigger around than my wrist.
I'd like to know where you get big pieces of sumac...

Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
