Hello to all,
Had a little bad luck today. I went to pick-up a new SC 18″ bandsaw and got caugth in heavy rain. Long story short, I arrived with a slightly wet bandsaw (It was wrapped in plastic film). Wiped it down as soon has I arrived and un loaded.
Anything I should lookout for?
Thanks for any advice

Rust. But its curable.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
I would look for any water trapped inside the machine where it could give you problems in the future, also makesure the electricals are all dry.

Get out a hair dryer and spend some time making sure all the nooks and crannies get dried off. My $0.02.
If you build it he will come.
If you let it sit a couple of days before you turn the machine on, any water that may have gotten inside will have evaporated. If you are in a cold or wet area , stick a small portable heater near it,
It must have been raining pretty hard to penetrate that heavy card-board case it comes in. I had to blast to get my SC out of it. The table and bearing have a light coat of cosmolene and all should be well. The hair dryer suggested should get everything else as most all other things are powder-coated.
The electronics would be the main concern. Get the hair dryer after the motor and capacitor box first. If you pull the on-off switch, you will only find female and males connectors that you would have to dry off. All other wires going in there are rubber coated.
I don't think you have a major problem once the electronics dry out well. And I hope you enjoy the SC as much as I enjoy mine!

Thank you for your replies,
It might seem like a went overboard on this one but it was driving me nuts. I work 70-80 hrs weeks. Last friday afternoon, rain cancelled a delicat operation so I dashed out to get my saw. I had planned on renting a closed box truck; They had only pick-ups left. It was supposed to be new and crated, They only had the 1 day old showroom demonstrator left in stock. (It was then and there or next February, so I took it) It wasn't suppose to rain at my parents place where my saw is stored; it poored.
Bottom line, one of those days. Knowing that I had only a couple of minutes, I wiped it down and tried a few scraps... I know not the right thing to do but the thought of waiting to let it dry slowly never crossed my mind. Cranked up the heating in the room and went back to work. Haven't seen it since.
Between my original post and this reply, I did a little 32 hour shift, so it probably too late to apply any of your wisdom. It is apprecialted none the less.
If I manage to turn this great saw into a lemon, I will keep the community up-dated so others can benefit from the experience of the short sightedness of the man in a hurry.
Thanks, to all.
I have a feeling all will be well. Rehab. It probably all evaporated without any damage even without the measures that have been mentioned. The plastic covering was an aid in your situation anyway.
Any questions give me a shout. I've been over this creature with a fine tooth comb. And if you get annoyed (the one place I found to be annoying and would change) with that set-screw for the bottom thrust bearing, the thread is M6 x 1. A knurled thumb screw from Reid Machinery or any machinery component distributor will turn that small annoyance around pronto. ha.. ha...
Hope you have time to slow down and enjoy it in the near future!
