OK, Craig’s List post for this week, a Craftsman 3-in-1, weird combination tool. Click here if you’re curious. Can’t help but wonder if the stand might be worth the $100….

Wow! I was just wondering what happened to that thing. I was thinking about it when I was trying to figure out a place for both my SCMS and planer. I thought that could work, but after seeing the picture, perhaps not.
The platforms seems somewhat small, don't they? I could see a grinder fitting on one, haven't thought, yet, of 2 more tools that would fit.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I can see you did not spend enough time in your local Sears tool department when you were younger. I remember that thing! It seamed odd to me at the time. Also I think from the photo that one is missing part of the top. The display one I remember had two side extensions that slide sideways to allow the tools to rotate then slide back.

Nope, grew up with just my mom and she wasn't big on tools. Actually, we shopped very little as there was just enough $$ for rent, food and a pair of shoes, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I mostly thought it was weird because it's a Craftsman! Didn't expect to see that. Have seen several plans for DIY rotating tool stands, and may be digging 'em out soon. Shop is pretty darned cramped now.
Sears was still selling a rotating stand, sans the machinery, till 3 or 4 years ago -- it took 3 tools. I've got a homemade flipover for my planer, but I can't find anything to put on the other side. The Ridgid belt sander would be ideal, but if you turned it upside down you'd lose all your bits and bobs. Something will turn up :^(.
The weird CanTire thing seems to be a copy of one that Elu sold in the UK

My dad bought three fishing rods and reels that had the Craftsman label. All of them eventually broke. So my dad took them back because at the time if it was labeled Craftsman then it had a lifetime replacement guarantee. The manager looked dumbfounded but took them back. Since they stopped making them he just let my dad pick out Fenwicks. Those haven't broken.Len

My dad has a set of BBQ tools that are made like Craftsman screwdrivers. They have "Not Guaranteed For life" printed on them.

FG,
Canadian Tire's house brand, Mastercraft, sells an equally odd item. It's a miter saw, but when you lock the saw in the "down" position and flip it over, it becomes a table saw. Sorry, I couldn't find a picture.

I'd say that's way more than "equally weird" -- in a class by itself! Would love to see one, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

The rotating stand thing has to be at least as old as the early 70's (the design, that is). My grandfather had one in his closet-sized shop, and he stopped adding tools to it around that time.
Yeah,
I remember it from the mid 70 IIRC. But it may have ben around for a while buy then.
