Do you mean a Trundle bed, or day bed.
Robert
Thanks for the reply, I think I mean trundle, I understand it to be a bed with a second bed underneath which can be pulled out on rollers or casters. Is this a case of two countries separated by the same language ? lol.

trundle bed.. Gee I thought is was those REALLY old beds with a wide board down the middle so if ya had company they stay on their side?
Will, that is a bundling board. Surely you remember that from your courting days
:-)
Just to stir the pot, here is the definition of:
truckle TRUHK-uhl, intransitive verb:To yield or bend obsequiously to the will of another; to act in a subservient manner.
;)
Now what do you call one of those beds that fold out of the wall? It is probably more hardware then woodwork. KDMKenneth Duke Masters

I was suprised to find that the Murphy Bed Company still exists. In fact it is not that far from me, on a good traffic day;)

Rich: I see that other than what you put around it in the way of trim it is all hardware. Still not a bad idea if space is at a premium. DukeKenneth Duke Masters

They are pretty popular, at least on the east coast. I think we have the market cornered on small apartments for stupid amounts of money;)

Yep, housing and energy costs in the northeast are nasty.
My ironing board.. if I come home after having to many...
LOL.. Gee. Guess I had the wrong name for it!
I built a trundle bed for granddaughter last year. I used construction techniques from Jeff Miller's book on beds and then built the trundle to slide under the main bed. The trundle is a very simple platform with sides and on wheels. The bed design was my own. I do not have any plans or shop notes but if you are interested, email me at [email protected] and I'll email you some pictures. I posted the pictures in the Gallery around this time last year and I'm not sure if they are still there.
