Hello Peter,
I purchased a gallon of water-based Varathane Polyurethane – Interior # 2002 (fast drying). The label does not indicate if one could use a spray gun to apply this type of varnish. But I still went ahead and put a small quantity in a spray gun. The problem when I applied this varnish is that the liquid does not spread evenly. It kind of forms tiny beads. It does not spread evenly like in the case of a standard oil-based polyurethane varnish. Any suggestions as how to resolve this problem. I love the stuff since it dries fast, in a matter of two hours.
Regards,
Calamawy

Almost any finish can be sprayed. A lot depends on the viscosity, fluid tip and air cap. It sounds like the finish did not atomize properly and it came out too thick.
It may have been possible to give the coat a quick brushing to lay it out flat before it set up.
If you need to thin it, check with the manufacturer for what they recommend to use.

Thank you Peter. I will try adding water and spray. Also your idea of flattening it with a foam brush is a good idea.
I don't think adding water is the way to go. Again, check with the manufacturer for a recommendation.
I just happened to see this before heading out for a walk. It's a cold snowy day here, a perfect day for a long walk.
