I have a project where I want to have an oil finish on a rleatively small piece of mahogany. (6″ x 6′). I have an old can of Sutherland Welles Polymerized tung oil. It has partially gelled, but shaking and stirring return it to near liquid. I’ve done a test with it and it seems to dry OK. Are there possible problems I’m overlooking?

When in doubt, toss it out. Is it really worth the gamble?

You're right, it's probably not worth the gamble, BUT........ I've got so many partial cans of finish, it seemed worth considering. It would let me use something I already have rather than incurring more expense and avoid sending yet another toxin to the landfill.
"I've done a test with it and it seems to dry OK." This would seem the critical factor. Asking the crowd: Are there other problems that could occur other than drying????

I don't see why you should throw it out.
I would dump some mineral spirits in the can, and if it returns to a liquid that can be wiped, I would say you are good to go.
