Uses for large (36″) blown down White Pines
We had a very strong wind in my area a few weeks ago. It managed to uproot a number of large white pine trees. I was wondering what sorts of projects I could use them for. I already have more pine lumber than I’ll likely use in my lifetime (from similarly sized trees when I put a power line in), so paying to have someone in with a bandsaw mill isn’t something I want to do. I’m wondering what other kinds of projects I could use them for. I was thinking I could use a chainsaw to cut 3″-4″ slabs off the end of the log to make a circular table tops for coffee tables. I’d certainly get a lot of slabs that size. I’m not sure how I would dry something like that so it wouldn’t crack. Any other ideas? Thx.
