Thank you in advance,

Check out http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com (Making a treadle lathe by Stephen Shepherd). Good Luck!
Stephen Shepherd also sells the hardware kit for the lathe.
Check out his website at http://www.ilovewood.com
You should phone Stephen before ordering. He's quite knowledgeable but a little eccentric in his business dealings.
There is an article in one of the old Fine Woodworking magazines & dimensioned plans I think, I will look for the issue, if I can't find it I will go ask Roy, he live down the street from me.

The Woodwrights Workbook,by Roy Underhill has basic plans in it.

Good luck and happy foot pedaling!!!
I built a treadle lathe based on one that Roy Underhill made on one episode of his TV show. I found this more helpful than the written descriptions. It works well, but is a bit underpowered (my 1/8th horsepower right leg).
One piece of advice - use at least a one inch shaft for the headstock. I used a 3/4 inch shaft with points filed in the end as the drive center; later when I wanted to use a commercially made drive center, I was not able to find a 3/4 inch shaft with a #1 Morse taper recess.
Thank you all for your replies. It's helped move this project forward. In response to NEWTRVA, any idea where I can get a tape of the show? pqken
