A small booklet of about 100 pages from 1917, by A Practical Joiner, entitled:
Woodwork Joints: How to make and where to use them: Full instructions for making mortise and tenon, lap, dovetail, scarfing and glue joints, with a chapter on circular woodwork.
Intended for the builder of houses, barns and so on, this booklet contains illustrations and directions for joints common, uncommon and rarely heard of today. There’s nice chapters on dovetail as well as mortise and tenon joints.
25 cts in 1917, free from The Toolemera Press

Wow, 25¢ ? Pretty pricey for those days. ;-)
Thanks, Gary. I downloaded a copy in honor of my dad, who passed away three years ago, but who was born in 1917.
RalphThat's a lovely thought.Garyhttp://toolemera.com
Thanks, particularly since it's his fault I'm a toolaholic. He managed on old-time hardware store for 57 years.
I remember one of those old hardware stores from when I was a kid. Stacks and stacks of hardware boxes, containers, drawers full of stuff. It was a small wonderland for a kid who liked to take things apart (but not always put them back together again).I bet you have some powerfully good memories of your Dad.Garyhttp://toolemera.com
"I bet you have some powerfully good memories of your Dad."Yes, I do, thanks. I worked at the store for four years during high school. That was a lot of fun, learning about all of the Delta tools, and being able to explain the difference between a Porter Cable tool and the hobby-grade B&D equivalent to a customer.
Great book. Thanks.
