John I am using a Grizzly Model 1023z using the supplied miter gauge with an extended shop made wood fence with built in stops for cross cuts and miters the miter gauge is squared to the blade and the miter gauge slot is square to the blade. the material in question is 3 inches wide and 5/8 inch thick it is purple heart wood I am cutting on the left side of a right tilting tablesaw the blade is a good quality blade that has been resharpened I also tried a 60 thooth freud thin kerf fine crosscutting blade but that was even worse

I haven't forgotten your question, but I need to spend some time experimenting in the shop to see if I can duplicate and then solve your problem. Sorry for taking so long, it's been a crazy week.
