WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN STAINS OFF OF MY TABLE SAW? I HAVE BEEN TOLD TOO MANY THINGS AND I DON’T WANT TO RUIN THE METAL. ALSO, I WAS TOLD TO WAX THE TOP AFTER IT IS CLEANED. PLEASE HELP.

WD-40 and 0000 Steel wool. Than protect with wax what ever type you have will work. Wax it like you would your car.
Bob,
Cast iron is porous, you can remove and smooth off any surface corrosion with very fine abrasives or steel wool, used with oil typically, but dark spots can extend deep into the metal and are permanent.
Waxing after you clean off the top will help to prevent new corrosion but auto waxes should be avoided, they contain silicones which if they get onto the wood will make for problems later when you go to finish the wood. The silicones, even in minute quantities, will prevent the finish from sticking and spreading evenly over the wood. Use ordinary furniture wax on your machines, Johnson's is popular, but they will all work.

I had some success with WD-40 and a scotch brite pad under a palm sander, followed by paste wax. That resulted with improved protection, but definite recurrence. The best results I've had are with Boeshield's rust remover followed by Boeshield's T-9 rust prevention, and then followed with a coat of past wax. No recurrence since being applied last April.
p.s. I live in the northeast where we see some high humidity and temperature extremes.
