I was given a tablesaw from a picture framing shop.I do not know how long the saw sat befor I got it. A little surface rust on the blade .The saw MFG. is a Swiss Co.named GUNNAR,they make matte cutting machinery, mostly.
I was hoping to just put a new plug on the cord and get to work, but when I plug in the saw all I get is a Hmmm…..from the starter ON/OFF switch.
I don,t know where to start trouble shootin’
1) Existing cord 12/3 w/gr blk-rd-wht/w a braided copper ground ,I installed a 3 prong twist-lok plug no ground to an existing 220 volt outlet.
2)May be 3-Phase? Idon’t know how to check or what to look for?
3)On/off maybe mag. but it’s different than what’s on the tablesaw and shaper?
GOTTA go ,but will be checking-in for advice or to answere questions.
THANKS , DPR

I have a Lurem shaper (French made) and have the same hum in my shop. I took it to a motor rebuilder to have it checked and it didn't hum there. Call a shop that rebuilds and ask them about the electrical wiring for it so you can compare what you have with what it needs. You need to ground it.
What's the motor plate say? Sounds like it is three phase.
yes you are right. It is amazing what you can find on the net.
The problem was that the spec. plate was in Swiss/German and Metric. Neither of which I,m that familiar with.
I went over to W. W. Grainger first got some specs ,went to the N.E.M.A.section got some more info, went to some fix it machinery sites ,a used tool auction site, over to EBAY acouple of times and a few local phone calls.
The bottom line , a Baldor 1-Phase 3H.P. motor at EBAY for about $2-250, new controls at wwgrainger, and alocal machinist to make a new flat belt pulley and my free saw will be up and runnnnnnnnning.
Thanks,DPR
