I’ll be traveling to Sweden for work next week. I’ll be spending most of the time in Kristinehamn but also plan on spending a day or two in Stockholm. Anyone know of any good woodworking/woodturning museums or attractions to check out while over there?
Thanks

I would encourage you to find some kind of wooden boat display if you can. I've seen first-hand what the oldster Swedes could produce with a limited stable of tools.
As far as wooden boats are concerned, there is in Stockholm, a superb nearly perfect wooden warship called the VASA that sank on its maiden voyage and was recovered from deep cold water only a few decades ago. I have spent much time looking at it. It is a must see. Near Stockholm is Skoklosters Castle, a perfectly preserved 17th century castle with its original art, furnishings, and TOOLS, including the workshops and a lathe room. Here is a URL for the castle:http://lsh.it-norr.com/default.asp?id=1745The workshops are fully stocked with the original tools, in their original places. The lathe room is where the aristocrats themselves would make ornamental works on lathes.Cheers!Joe
See if you can find some plans for a Swedish Mora tall clock. Ive been looking for 2 years with no luck. Let me know if you find a set of plans.

I agree with the suggestion to visit the VASA. The "decorators" must have out ranked the "engineers".
Strange as it may seem, a visit to the City Hall is a must. This is the site of the Nobel awards.
