Hi,
I’m working on a project for a customer in which I must copy an existing piece including the decorative carving. The table stretchers all have extensive carving and intricate scroll sawed elements. I’m pretty sure that I can copy the carving as it is within my normal style of work. However, the scrolling is killing me! I’ve already broken 25 blades and I’ve barely gotten started! This is 4/4 white oak so I’m not too surprised at the difficulty; however, whoever did the original sure scroll sawed it. I asked my hardwood provider if they knew of some type of ‘industrial’ or diamond tipped scroll saw blade but they have no idea. Anyone out they know of such a blade or have any ideas? I’m stumped.

There's one, and only one, scrollsaw blade worth using [IMHO, of course ;-) ] and that's Flying Dutchman blades. You can get them at Mike's Workshop, and he is extreeeeeemly helpful in assisting you to choose the right blade(s) for the job. With the added challenge you're facing, it might be a good idea to phone him:

You're most welcome. Let us know how the project turns out, or if you continue to have blade breakage problems.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
