Hi everyone.
I’m trying to change the knives in my jointer. One of the bolts, not the jackscrews by the others that secure the knives, is stuck really good.
Any ideas on removing it? I’ve tried WD40 on it, knocking on it with a punch. I’ve all but rounded over the corners on the head of the bolt.
I was thinking about drilling a hole through the head of the bolt and putting a lever through the hole to turn it.
Please Help!

A six sided socket,a good one,and an impact driver set at low then gradually increased might work. Or the type that you hit w/ a hammer wile you twist counter clockwise. These work good and not much money either. Heating the cutter head will make it expand, but it could also damage bearing seals and paint etc. When I'm pressing a bearing into anything steel I'll freeze the bearing and heat the part w/ a torch.
More W/D. Good luck!

Wonder how you gonna get all that on a screw that is only accessable to an open end wrench???
Just curious

I've used the abrasive cut off wheel in my Dremel tool to cut part way through it then it comes loose and I replace the damaged gib screw. The original wrench is often poor quality and should be replaced in the beginning.
another generic thought on removing stuck bolts, Breakfree CLP. Stands for Cleaner Lubricant Preservative, I think. I get it at a gun shop, since it originated as a gun cleaner in the military, but I use it for all kinds of stuff. Leave it sit a few hours and nasty bolts seem to slip around pretty easy. I soak my Hilti gun in the stuff overnight after heavy use. All the grime, fouling, powder residue just slides off. Worth a shot.

Ahem...er...uhm...Never mind.
Standing over the jointer I wondered why the machine didn't have a factory wrench. I had already tried a 5/16 and an 8mm box end wrench neither was working good. Digging around on the bottom of the homeade base if found the factory wrench (8mm) and, what-do-you-know, it worked.
Thanks everyone for your quick responses.
I heard that Coca Cola is also good at loosening stuborn nuts....
