hey.
have to refinish a rosewood dining table.
finisher applied too many coats of sherwin williams hi build pre cat laq.
i tried to strip finish with zinsser power strip. the finish is still quite hard to remove.
actually pulled up a few pieces of veneer on top scraping the finish. hoping i could find
a more compatible stripper that will soften the finish more and make it easier to remove.
any suggestions on a better stripper for pre cat?
also any suggestions on filling torn out wood grain and coloring. i was told pre cat. build up in tear out
areas before final top coat, but was told dry mil thickness would be too much and cause
finish cracking.
any suggestions welcome

Yeah. dealing with rosewood is tough
In the wood there is a kind of oil inside, that may caused problem in the finishing.
To stripp your previous coating, try use acettone. Mix acetone with about 10 % of alkohol.
Then wet your finish with this thinner, let it wet for awhile (about 5 minute), and then clean your finish.
If it doesnot work you has to use akind of paint removal chemical.
To finish rosewood i prefer to use Polurethane instead of precat.
You can coloring with the proper stain and filler to get the color you want
