I don’t ware gloves as a rule. I get a splinter now and then. Had some doozies over the years. Done a number of bloody procedures to remove bad ones. I had one over the weekend that was eventually forced out via squeezing. It popped out. It was wild.
Anyone else?

Baltic Birch is notorious for giving splinters. I try not to let them side through my hands but I always seem get a few on each cabinet project.
Even wearing kevlar gloves covered in chain mail Doug Fir will make you bleed.
Oh yeah… I was framing and had a sliver of a 2x4 shoved through the length of the middle joint of my left index finger. It was deep but could be seen through skin. I couldn’t move my finger as it was acting as a splint. Had to cut the skin and pull it out. I still have a scar 25+ years later.
The worst one I ever had was from the banister to the second floor, it had a crack and I ran my thumb over it and a piece went in and broke off so deep I couldn’t get it out, had to go to the clinic and get my thumb frozen so they could pull it out with a surgical clamp. When the. Doc froze it he stuck the needle kinda under my thumb and I yelled like Fred flintstone, my wife started laughing,(she’s a nurse so she’s seen worse) I think that doctor thought we were wierd
About everyday..and on occasion a splinter from hell!
Anybody else work with larch? Rough cut has tons of little stickers waiting to hitch a ride in your hands. Plus they are pretty clear and hard to see, especially for us senior woodworkers.
I think plywood splinters are the worst. In the top left of one of my tool cabinets is an array of tweezers, magnifiers, and antibiotic goo-in-a-tube. For really nasty ones I have a first aid kit in the shop that has band-aids and so forth.
