Do any of you folks work with sheet goods other than plywood, MDF and particleboad? I’ve been looking at branching out into some specialized panels, but I’m not sure how well they’d do in my home shop. Specifically, I’m talking about Apple ply, LDF, MDO, bamboo ply, and bending plywood. Any thoughts? I’d also like to know where you find some of this stuff. It looks like internet sites are my only option, and then shipping is a huge burden.

Except for the bamboo ply, I've used all of those products you mentioned on various jobs. They're all available from wholesale distributors--the ones that supply cabinet shops. Some distributors will sell to homeowner/DIY buyers; others don't want to be bothered and will sell only "to the trade." Do a search in your local yellow pages under "Plywood" or "Lumber" and let your fingers do the walking. If you run up against a supplier who refuses to sell something directly to you, you can possibly make a deal with a local cabinet shop to buy it for you for a small markup.
Hi WHITE ASH ,
Not sure what LDF is but all the others you mentioned are user friendly and should be available to purchase from a supply house that caters to the industry and often just the larger lumber yards may be able to help .
What area are you in ? Maybe someone can steer you in the right direction .
good luck dusty
LDF - Low Density Fiberboard. As I recall it is closer to particle board than MDF is.
as opposed to MDF

Apple ply is just an American version of Baltic birch, but IIRC, it is available in 4 X 8 sheets, which can be handy.
MDO is a particularly useful product, especially for any outdoor applications. It is a regular exterior grade plywood with a smooth paper skin (on one side or both) that takes paint very well.
Bamboo ply is not commonly available around here, and I don't know what LDF is.

Don't know where you are but as someone said, wholesale dealers are everywhere and some will deliver across pretty wide areas. I see trucks from some dealers in North-Central Wisconsin here in Milwaukee, and that's a hoof.
