How does one get past the spam filter? After several years of membership, I tried posting a simple message a couple of months ago and got rejected. I just tried again with the same result. What is going on?
Edit: Surprisingly, this one went through. Why one and not the other?

I was just blocked again myself. It makes people give up. Something is terribly wrong with this site.

Terribly Wrong
Go to " Web or Magazine Feedback " and ask those folks at Fine Wooodworking to look at your profile and set it not to block you as a spammer

The Filter
Yes, it seems to block real participants, while letting the spammers through.
There have been numerous discussions about the problem, but no real fix.
The easy work-around is to send Gina Eide (user name "geide") a message (not a post in the Feedback section), asking to be put on the filter bypass list. To do this, click on the "Members" link at the upper left, and look up her user name. Click on that to display her profile. Once the profile is displayed, there's an option to send her a message. This will be quicker than waiting for them to see a post in the Feedback section.
No longer employeed
Ralph,
Thanks for your efforts. I got as far GEide's user info but have never seen a button to send private message. I did try to send an email to her using that user name but the message was eventually indicated to have been directed to "employeesnolongerwithtaundon. I tried to post again with a response on flat panels, but was blocked again. I am surprised that when I'm blocked there is no way to copy and save the message and paste into something else. They really want to kill what they consider span and I'm sure would drive a wooden stake through it's hear if they could.

re: no longer employed
Well, that's not good. I guess we'll have to find a new person to contact.
Before being placed on the filter-bypass list, I would often "select" the text in the editor window (with the mouse) and press CTRL-C (or, right click and "copy") to put the text in the computer's memory before clicking on the Post button. That saved me more than once.
new contact person?
FYI, I sent a note to Ed Pernik, one of the editors, to see if he could suggest a new Knots contact person.
Spam Filter
Dear pseverin and bilyo:
You're both on our "Trusted User" list now so you should experience no more problems.
If you do, just send a private message to either myself or Lisa Morgan (I will be asking her to post an introdcution to you all in knots later today). Lisa is my colleague here at FWW.com
Actually, sending a private message through Knots is the best way to contact us. Since we are always mired in content production for the FWW.com site, we aren't in Knots everyday, and can easily miss these posts.
Best,
-Ed
What the . . . this is the most rediculous thing I've ever dealt with on a forum. Not only am I unable to creat a new thread because of this "Spam Filter" but the system wont even let me send a message to the people listed above, so I have no way of requesting to be placed on the Trusted User list either.

Getting past the bleepity-bleep
You may need to log off, clear cookies, and then log back in. It appears the spam filter sets a spammer cookie, blocking further access on certain occasions and during certain moon phases.
clear cookies
I can certainly recommend a plate full of cookies when dealing with all of this ________ (fill in your own "bad word" describing things that fall out of the rear end of large farm animals).
