   Shipping may rule these folks out, but I picked up a ~6" length of 7" wide 8/4 that was dead-quartersawn about a year ago--maybe an option if you can't find anything closer.

   Thanks for the lead.  I sent them a note and received a reply.  Gotta see what the total cost will be with shipping and go from there.  Still looking for a local supplier also.

   You could try The Hardwood & Hardware Co in San Diego, Austin Hardwoods in Santa Ana, and Cut & Dried Hardwoods in Solona Beach, CA.  I don't know about their shipping policies.

   BA have you tried Quality Ply in Clearwater?  They stock a pretty good range, not sure bout wenge...have # if you haven't tried them.

   Thanks for the lead.  They don't have wenge listed on their web page but I sent them an inquiry. I did notice that they have the mahogany I will need, so I requested info on that as well.

   I get mine from High Desert Hardwoods in Eagle ID. 1(800)543-3173 Ask for Ron, the owner. Once in a while, i've needed some particular wood that i didn't get in the truckload, and they've shipped via UPS. They are also the nicest people on Planet Lumber and carry excellent quality stock. I'm looking at prices from buying a couple years ago: 8/4 wenge was $12.15 to me. I know a whole lot of it got burned up on the docks due to a rebel arson activity which caused a spike in prices, but you can call for free and check it out.

   Or, tell me what sort of size pieces you need and i'll look through my stockpile! ;)
