G’day all
I added another Krenov style plane to my collection & then decided to make up an adjusting hammer. The Plane is made from Brigalow ( Acacia Harpophylla ) with a Hock blade.
The adjusting hammer is made from an old 1/2 ” brass plumbing tee with a white oak handle from the scrap bin. The faces of the hammer are a small piece of 1/2″ dia. bright steel bar and a piece of Brigalow I made into a dowel and then ebonised.
I hope people can find some ideas from this.

Basil,
Great idea. I've added it to my "To Make" list (which is kind of lengthy). What is Brigalow? Never heard of it.

Chrisyou will find a description of Brigalow at
;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acacia_harpophyllaI used it as it is a dense wood of around 1000 kg / cubic metre, attractive, and very stable with shrinkage rates of 1.5 % radial and 3% tangential. I don't know of anyone else who has used the species, but I thought it had attributes which would suit a plane body. I have also made a Jointer plane, and they are both producing a finish that I would not sully with abrasives.Regards
Nice job on both ! ! !
Here's to using very little if any sand paper as well.

Very sweet indeed!
I like the way you textured the end, I will have to try something like that on my next one.
Again, very nice
