I have been cutting some large through dovetails in 3/4 oak, with my D1600 Jig. All went pretty well, quite a bit of a learning curve, but am happy with the results that I am getting. Now my I come to the problem that I am having with half blind tails using 1/2 in material for rawer fronts, and sides. The 128-8 is the smallest bit that will cut in this material. It is the smallest bit that comes with this bit set. would like to cut a smaller cut using about 1/4 in. material, is there a place where I can order these smaller bits. Thanks for any info.

I think you'll need to check the specs and/or instructions for your D1600 jig with respect to the minimum material thickness that it supports. The minimum material thickness is a function of the minimum spacing of the guide fingers on the jig, the size of the collet, and the size and geometry of the bit. Although router-bit manufacturers provide smaller bits, intended for use with smaller collets, the D1600 may not support all of what is available. That is, you may need to use a different jig for smaller DTs in thinner stock.

Here's one that will workhttp://www.adriatools.com/handsaw/dovetail_saw.html: )rocGive me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. Abraham Lincoln ( 54° shaves )
Yeah, but my Dozuki will cut 'em even smaller. ;-)
Roc,
They look nice, but where does the motor hook up?

"where does the motor hook up?"
To a well stocked pantry - I think.
Best wishes,

I am a little confused. You state that you have a problem with 1/2" thick drawer front and sides and then mention you want to use 1/4" material. Can you clarify?
According to Leigh's web site the D1600 cannot handle a drawer front that is less than 1/2" thick or drawer sides that are less than 1/4" thick: (http://www.leighjigs.com/cutters-d16.php#)
The WoodRat has small dovetail bits. I don't know if they would work properly with the D1600.
After rereading my orig. post, I see that I did not make myself clear. I have sucessfully cut some HB dovetail in 1/2 in. drawer material, but since the smallast bit for half blind is the 128, which seems to have a cutting length of 3/8 in. This seems perfect for 1/2 in material. I was wondering if it would be possible to cut hb dovetails in 1/4 in material.
Thanks for the comeback
Clement
While cutting hb dovetails in 1/4 in material is theoretically possible (although perhaps not with your 1600 jig), doing so may not be a good plan from a design perspective. The resulting joint could easily be too fragile to be practical.
As Senomozi wrote, there are some small bits out there. Here's a 3/16" diameter x 3/8" long bit. http://www.chipsfly.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=W/PROD/IC/18-319 There are other small ones as well. Don't know if you can make it work or, based on Ralph's remarks, if you can even handle thin work with the jig.
