I have three paperback books that are 5.5 by 8.5 inches. The three combined are one inch thick.
I want to make several slipcases for about 15 sets of these books. A photo of a slipcase is attached. So, the interior opening of the slipcase needs to be about 5.5 inches deep, 8.75 inches high, and 1 to 1 & 1/16 inches wide.
On the spine I will have the series name lasered. Similar to the words Fine Woodworking in the attached photo.
My question: How would you make them? Plywood? quartersawn? What joints? etc.? Anything you would recommend.
Thanks,

Any ideas?
Years ago I made some of 1/4 hardwood ply.
Make a 5 sided box (open on top) finger jointed or mitered, then make a arc or a double arc inverted starting at 1/2 point on top, then cut out through both sides (band saw) exiting in middle of closed side. Box is lying flat on band saw table. This is your slip case. Drum sand.
Make a second 5 sided box - larger- sized to fit with the long thin side open. This one is the outer case.
Hard to explain in type, no brainer to do. hope I was clear enough.
