OK, New woodworker here, putting Christmas presents to good use I hope. I watch the Simple, Sturdy Workbench episode of Getting Started in Woodworking, Season 2. Thought this would be a good project and I am rolling alone with it. I watched the show, and downloaded the plans. On page one of the plans, I am looking at the bench from the front diagram. I am not understanding, why the mating hole on the Left Hand Leg are 9 inches from the floor, and the Right hand leg shows that hole being 9 3/16 off the floor? Please explain?
Thanks, Remember, I am new, and perhaps I have over looked something.

SFC,
Thank you for your question.
9-in. is the height of the bottom stretcher.
9 3/16-in. refers to the center point of the hole you will drill for the threaded rod that supports the stretcher. It is higher because you will be cutting a 3/8 groove into the side stretcher's bottom. When the stretcher drops down over the rod, its bottom will be at 9-in high.
Best of luck making the workbench.

Sir,
Thanks for the very quick answer to my question, I figured it was something simple that I was just not getting. We teach in the Army, No such thing as a dumb question. Feel kind of silly now that I see what your saying. I think this bench will be good for me. Thanks for a great magazine and a great online resource
