One more question on measurements. The plan (pg 84) shows a 3 1/2 space between the bottom and shelf for vac. If I cut a 2 inch hole for air exhaust, but fill a 3 1/2 space with 2 inches of insulation, it leaves only 1 1/2 of air space to go out that 2 inch hole?
But then I look at the photo of finished box on page 85, and it looks like 3-4 inch space between the 2 layers of insulation, maybe the 3 1/2 inch is 5 1/2??

I don't think the width is mission critical. If you want to make the exhaust opening 1 1/2 in. wide and maintain the 3 1/2 in. width between the dadoes that will work, or if you want to change all the dimensions of the piece go with a 4 in. width.
