I am hunting for plans to make a jig so that I can construct louvered shutters. These will be for the outside of the house. I have seen one in a copy of a magazine but it was too dark to see clearly. I recieved another one in the mail but I have never figured it out.
Thank you.

Norm built a jig to make shutter doors for a teak bar. The jig was very well explained and it was also part of a shop jigs epsoide. The first link to the bar and the second is the jigs.

Scott, I remember that episode, but did those slats go up and down (or open and close - "louvered") -- I thought they were stationary. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jerry-
You can get the plans for the shutter jig from NYW, but give yourself and them time. I ordered the plans ,online, for Norm's router table on Aug.3. The plan arrived on the 12th. That's 9 days for a trip of about 175 miles. I could have drove up and back in one day. And there's a $4.95 S&H charge for a standard size envelope that could be mailed for $.37 . Oh well! the plan is readable.
lostarrow,
I finished putting together the carcas of Norm's router table last night...unfortunately, I bought the plans two years ago. I have modified the plans so it resembles the new style. I do have one question, if I may, what material is used for the fense on the new design? thanks
Glad to oblige. The plan calls for 3/4" MDF with high pressure laminate on face.Be not afraid of going slowly. Be afraid only of standing still. chinese proverb
Lostarrow,
Thanks. The old plans called for ply....and smaller
Jerry, I just checked the NYW site, and someone else had asked about louvered shutters. The response was: "On NYW we have made fixed louvers for our Teak Bar Project # 9905. (Check Project Plans )" There was a post here at Knots about a hard-to-read louvered shutter plan ages ago. Wonder if it's the same plan?. . . . . AHHHHHHH -- I did a search!
