Hi all –
I’ve got a Task self-centering doweling jig that I’ve used for years and today it decided not to be self-centering. It’s off by 1/32″ inch, which when I put together the pieces give a huge 1/16″ offset for what should be a flush (or at least close to flush) joint. I see a hex head screw adjustment on the device and a couple of bolts on one side. Have any of you had any experience dealing with this jig? Any comments on how to get it back in sync. I used a shim to get the job done today, but I’d like to see if there is a permanent fix available. There is a web site on the device which I visited, but they only want to sell more and the email bounced back.
Thanks for any help you can give.

It is possible the guide bushing is worn , the drill bit sharpened too much can also cause problems with dowling jigs .

Thanks, but the bushings look fine. I haven't really used the jig enough to wear the bushings. I did notice the center part of the jig (which holds the bushings) seems to wobble between the side clamps of the jig. This wobbling seems to be affected by the hex set screw. Anyone the procedure for setting this set screw?
Thanks,
Les
