I saw an add for a 20 inch Robland Jointer-planer, $5200 with shipping. Anyone acquainted with this brand, model, features, quality, etc. I’ve seen the name around but never run into any of their equipment. If anyone out there can offer an informed opinion I’d like to hear it.

CL,
Robland are Ypean - Belgian maybe?
Anyroadup, there are a few reviews of various Robland machines on this website:
http://www.woodworkersinstitute.com/
Enter "Robland" in the search box near the top right hand corner of the screen and it comes back with half a dozen hits.
Mind, the reviews are from a British WW magazine that is perhaps not as critical as FWW is when reviewing tools. Nevertheless, their descriptions may help.

I had a 12” version of their jointer/planner/mortiser some years ago; selling it was the greatest woodworking mistake I ever made it was a great machine. If it is in good shape go for it, you’ll be very glad you did.
This is a heavy-duty bull-hoss of a machine. And it requires 3 phase power, unless the owner has changed the 10HP motor to something less. Hopefully you have 3 phase or a converter. Robland is made in Belguim and is really heavy duty.
