Searching for Delta Shaper part
I haven’t been on this forum much, but maybe someone can help out. My Delta HD shaper has broken the bronze lifting nut, and I have been unable to find one; they seem to be on backorder. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried all the usual suspects on the interweb, Mike's and ereplacement, all back ordered. I was hoping somebody might know of a place that isn't a huge presence on the web that might still have some stock. I should check with grizzly; I don't know how close their machines are to Delta.

You could get a bronze bushing from McMaster-Carr and tap it to the correct size. If it is an Acme thread the tap cost would be very high.

McMaster-Carr also has Acme nuts that may fit.

Delta Parts
The part finally appeared as available, with the proper number from my original manual, the shaper raising nut. It arrived today, and somewhere there was a design change. THe new part has conventional threading, but the original was acme thread. Something else to watch out for when getting parts.
Questionable customer service
Delta's not getting very high marks on their customer service these days. From what I hear, trying to talk to someone and get a good answer is nigh on impossible. Couple that with something they started a few years back with Type 1, 2, and 3 on their designs and it can be frustrating.
I needed a couple of parts for my jointer a year or so ago and tried to order them online. I bought this jointer back in the '80s before they started using the different types. Nothing seemed to match up, regardless of which type I chose. Fortunately I have a regional service center fairly close to me and I was able to take the parts there and find the right matches. They are making it difficult to keep these things running sometimes.
