thank you all for reading this and giving me feed back
i’ve been wondering what size screw to use for different projects – not the length of the screw, but the diameter or size: 6 or 8 ….
i have been mostly using #8 screws for 3/4 plywood and maybe #6 for 1/2 plywood. i didn’t give it much thought. well a friend of mine uses #6’s for most stuff, expecially plywood, so he reduces the risk of splitting the plywood.
i’ve tried to google for specs etc on when to use different size screws: holding strength, general guidelines, etc. nothing.
what do you all think?
