Hello all,
I was hoping someone could help me locate a sawyer in or around St. Louis Missouri. I have tried online, the yellow book, and some of the mill manufacturer websites and cannot find anything. I had one that was a great guy located by the airport, but I can’t find his number anywhere. Thanks for the help.

I have two neighbors who saw lumber. I am near High Ridge (just south of Saint Louis). One is Charles Ault... he has a bandsaw mill set up. Phone Charles at (636) 677-4441.
David Flori 636-375-3305 will also cut lumber. He has a Granville mill (chainsaw type) that is very portable and he can come to the log for you. He also does tree trimming/removal and chainsaw carving.
Both are very interesting people who have lots of ideas and many enterprises cooking at once.
If your looking for rough sawn wood at a decent price this place is good. http://www.woodfinder.com/listings/012869.php They are located in an old industrial area off of Kingshighway 2 blocks south of Hwy. 70. They are only open for retail the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, but if you can work around that it's a good place. I'd be glad to meet up sometime and pay them a visit with you. It's just like going to the candy store for me:)

Thanks so much for the info. Bigfoot, I will definitely keep their names and number on file. Spindle, it sounds like my kind of store. Good prices too. I love the thought of "urban lumber". I may be able to go next Saturday, the 21st. I am located in Manchester.
FYI, MO Dept of conservation has a listing of sawmills by county.
Are you wanting lumber or someone to cut logs? I lived there for over 3 years and bought from a guy across the river in IL that if you want lumber he's your man. Very good prices and the wood is out of this world. He's a retired guy that started doing this and has got ton's of stuff mostly QS and figured. I bought some great cherry at fabulous prices kiln dried on the property. I even spent a couple days vacation going over and he taught me how to cut. It was an education and a half. Anyway if you want his info, I'll dig it out. Just let me know. He does not do the cutting but has a guy come on his property several times a year to cut all the logs he gets throughout the year.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
It originally started as a search for a sawyer, one that can mill on site. Then, as I read the replies to my post, it sounds like there is a great wood shop downtown. If it is not too much trouble to find the IL guys info, it would be much appreciated. It is always nice to have more than one option. I used to have some of these guys info, but i seemed to have lost it when we moved. Thanks for the reply.
Wow, I still had his card in my wallet. His name is Bill Cerney "the wood doctor"
Give him a call great guy 618-410-5431. Again his stuff is nice and for what he charges you can work in QS and figured for what the retail guys charge. He's in Edwardsville. Tell him Keith sent you (the guy who moved to PA recently) If he has any of the pink sycamore left take a look. I bought mostly cherry. Good luck.
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Thanks alot for all the info. I will tell him hello for ya. I have an old high school buddy in Edwardsville....sounds like I need to pay the both a visit! thanks again.
