Is there anybody living in the Cleveland, OH area that can recommend a GOOD saw blade sharpening service? I am so tired of getting my hundred dollar saw blades back with half the teeth ground away. And the blades don’t seem to be any sharper after coming from the sharpener than when I delivered them. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I don't know what kind of blades you have. I send my Forest blades back to them. They are good as new every time. I don't know if they will sharpen other brands or not.
I have Freud, Forrest, Oldham and Delta and a few others. I really don't want to ship my blades if I can find somebody local that will do a decent job. Kirkland is a fer piece from Cleveland, it's about an hour and 15 minute drive ain't it?. At todays gas prices it would probably be cheaper to ship the blades off than drive them to the sharpener. Laughing out Loud.

OK, What part of the Cleveland area ? Kirtland is about 10-12 miles east of Euclid. Or go to mapquest and get a map to Lake County Farm Park. Jensco is about 1/2 mile west of it.

I found it. It's Jencso, not Jensco. They are 28.5 miles from my house. Not a bad ride. I have their phone number, I'll call them tomorrow and get some prices. Thanks for the information.

FYI, Many of the Amish and Yankee cabinet shops in Geauga County area have their blades done there.
They do all kinds of sharpening.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Westsider?I've used Cleveland Tool and Cutter in Strongsville. They did whack a little more off the top of my rip blade teeth than I expected, but it may because a few of them were chipped. Anything I've have sharpened there cuts nicely.14181 Foltz Pkwy.

Thanks for responding. I've had my blades to Cleveland Tool & Cutter in Strongsville, and they don't sharpen them, they send them out. I don't know who they send them to but I know they are hacks. I won't take my blades to them anymore. I delivered my blades today to Jencso. They were recommended by a fellow Cleveland area woodworker. Their prices are right on also. Thanks Toby
P.S. NEVER EVER take ANYTHING to be sharpened to a company in Lindale named Saw Service.

Let us know how the Jencso sharpening service turns out. I also have had a bad experience with Cleveland Tool and Cutter sharpening my blades.

Jerry,
Remember where you heard about Jencso ;-) About 8 more miles and you can visit Eagle ! And we carry Forrest.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Bruce I remember that you recommended Jencso. I do not get out your way very often. I am about an hour away but very close to Cleveland Tool and Cutter. You do not have any blades in stock that fit my Hammer slider. I ordered a Freud Premier Fusion shortly after the 315mm/12" was available and had it bored for the Hammer. It is an excellent blade with chip free cuts just like the Wood Magazine blade test said.
When I am in the area I will stop in and chat and maybe even buy something.
P.S. Is their any good lunch places in the Chardon Area? I will drive 2 hours for an excellent lunch.

The New York Deli has a killer Grilled Corned Beef Rubin. A good 1.250" of meat.
Remember, I'am part time so E-mail for work days.
Since your last visit we started carrying Festool and Fein.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

My last visit was in late fall, you were off. You had the nice Festool display then. Where is the New York Deli? I love Ruben's but only have them occasionally and I don't tell my doctor.

The Deli is down in the old shopping plaza across the street from McDonalds.
The menu is extensive and far as sandwiches go. There is a good tongue sandwich but it's not to popular to those with an uncultured palate ;-)Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Jerry, I took my saw blades to Jencso to have them sharpened as recommended by Bruce in this forum. I am not easily impressed but the two brothers that run this sharpening service and sharpened my blades for me did it. The blades they sharpened for me came back like brand new. I will be using them for EVERYTHING I need sharpened in the future. And, their prices are VERY reasonable. I have attached a flyer they gave me with their current prices. I gave them three ten inch blades and my Festool 8-1/4 inch blade and they called me in three days to tell me they were finished and ready for pick-up. If you live anywhere near this company and need stuff sharpened this is the place to go. Also, you can mail them your blades and they will mail them back very reasonably. Here is the information as printed on their business card. Tim & Paul Balazs are the names of the guys that own the company.

Thanks for the informative update. I will give them a try as they sharpen everything you can think of.
I have received my blades back from Forrest in just over a week including shipping time. The miter saw blade does cut better than when new. I have not received my planner blades yet. They only have one person that does planner blades.
BruceS I have not forgotten that you recommended Jensco.

I have seen posts on this forum that Forest does sharpen other brands more than once.
Jensco. They are located in Kirtland OH. on State Route 6 about 1 1/2 miles east of State Route 306

You will not regret sending them to Forrest. I have them do all mine no matter the brand and it well worth sending them to them. The price is great and turn around is about a week. They do come back better than new.

Dont hesitate, go directly to "Cleveland Tool and Cutter" on Rt 82 in Strongsville... I have had a number of blades and large router bits sharpened there, theyalso fixed a blade that I dropped and lost a tooth.
Dane, I've taken my blades to Cleveland Tool & Cutter in Strongsville and I was not happy with their service. They farm the blades out to have them sharpened. I"m sure they go to the lowest bidder so they can tack on as much as they can get away with. My sharpener of choice is Jencso in Kirtland. Read my previous post.

really... I would have bet that they did thier own work...
A few years ago I had a 12" extra-fine chop blade that I use for moulding, I dropped it and had to have 3 new teeth replaced, I was visiting a client across the street and just dropped in to see if it was done they went back to "see if it was ready" it was, but that is why I thought they did thier own work...
