I was in the middle of a “Build or Buy” decison on a router table when my wife surprised me with a Jess-Em MastRLift Excel (with a MastRFence). I still have to pick up a reducer collar for my PC 690, but it seems to be a sweet piece of equipment.
Included with the fence are 2 shims for setting up the outfeed fence for jointing. I never planned for this use, but it makes sense; particularly for wide boards and panel glue-up. By the way, I don’t have a jointer.
My main question is what bit to use in this setup? Straight or spiral? Up-cut or down-cut? Any ideas or comments about this application?

Theoretically, a spiral bit will give you a smoother (and possibly quieter) cut than than a straight bit. In practice, given that routers run so much faster than jointers, I doubt it you'd see much difference. An up-cut bit will tend to pull the work closer to the router, so on a router table, would pull the work down tighter to the table, which would be a good thing.
