Router plate modifications for Space-Saving Router Table
I noticed in John White’s fine article that he purchased a router plate for the Triton router. Two pictures are shown in the beginning of the article, one is the large picture with Mr. White routing a board, the other is the router’s winder being used. The smaller picture looks like the plate has been drilled out to accomodate the winder, where the larger picture doesn’t show the hole. Can someone clarify this? I’m thinking about buying this router/plate combo, but I want to know if further modifications are needed. Thank you, Art.

Drill
The hole seems to show in both of the pictures, it is right along the front edge. In any case, you will have to drill the hole, since the hole's location will depend on how the router is mounted on the plate. The router can be placed in four possible positions. With a sharp bit it is easy to drill the hole in the aluminum plate, but I would recommend using a drill press.
