Router Bits
Are you after a collet that can accept smaller then 1/4 inch shank bits ?

I would suggest a dremel tool for 1/8in bits
Router bit extension
No I'm looking for an extension that will let me make deeper cuts with my 1/4" shank bits in my 1/4" collet router. I could buy a dremel and the associated 1/8" bits but would probably still run into the depth issue with those.
I've been using one of these for a few years in my router table. Not sure what you expect in a plunge router, you can only go as deep as the travel of the router will allow. Once the collet, extension or not, hits the base plate, you're done. Sometimes you have to buy the right length bit.

Long Bits
Not sure about extentions but some manufacturers do make longer shanked bits then are typical. Also there are a few shops that can custom make any bit you design -
Just don't go too long on the shank because it won't cut correctly and you can do damage to your router.
