Dear Expert,
<!—-><!—-> <!—->
I own a Grizzly g0528 router table. It is a large heavy duty router table with a cast iron top. It does not have a removable plate to attach the router, but instead it uses a clamping system below the table. Because of the thickness of the table I need to use a collet extension for short bits.
Attached to the table I have a dewalt 3 horse dw 624 plunge router.
Here are my questions.
- What kind of mechanism can I use to easily adjust the bit height? Is another router base a possibility?
- 2. I want to make the table mobile. What is the best way to do that?

Taking the springs out of the router will make the machine easier to adjust but you'll still have to use the original controls.
Check with the people at Router Raizer, they make kits to modify routers so they can be adjusted from above the table with a small crank handle. They make kits for a DeWalt 625 and 621 models, I'm not sure if the 624 is much different from the 625, but they should know. They also make a collet extender.
I would just get a mobile base for your machine, FWW ran a review of them a few years ago, some are better than others.
